How To

How to make the perfect omelet

Omelets have always been a favourite food to eat for breakfast. How can you make them perfectly? There are many recipes and methods I tried, but none worked. So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

We should first know that eggs are very temperamental ingredients when making omelets. It is important that eggs are fresh from an organic market and kept cool until used. If they are not kept cold enough, the whites won’t form properly. The yolks will also break down too quickly and become runny. This makes your omelets look weirdly colored. If you're going to cook them immediately, it is best if the eggs are still warm.

You can also separate the egg before you add it to the pan. You don't want the white to get mixed with the yolk, as this could cause the egg to curdle.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, microwave the egg for 10 seconds before adding it to the pan. The microwave heat is sufficient to cook the egg without overcooking.

Next, let us talk about how to mix the eggs. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. Turn the bowl upside down and grab the whisk to do this. Next, shake the bowl vigorously. This allows the air to be whipped and the egg to be mixed thoroughly.

The fun part begins - you need to pour the milk into your mixture. Mix half of the milk with the eggs. Then fold the eggs in half into the remaining milk. You don't need to worry if streaks remain. They will disappear once you flip your omelet.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. The lid should be carefully opened. Sprinkle salt in the pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once you have formed the omelet. Wait for the top to set. Flip the omelet over using a spatula or flip the pan upside down. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe is best when used with whole milk. But, you can use skimmed milk as well.
