How To

How to make the perfect omelet

Omelets have always been a favourite food to eat for breakfast. But how do you create them perfectly? There are many recipes and methods I tried, but none worked. Today, I'd like to share some tips with you in order to make delicious and fluffy omelets every day.

First, eggs can be very temperamental ingredients for making omelets. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. The yolks and whites will not form properly if they aren't kept cold enough. This will make your omelets appear strangely colored. If you intend to cook your eggs immediately, it's best to use room-temperature egg.

Another tip is to separate each egg before adding them to the saucepan. The yolk and white should not be mixed together as this can cause the omelet's curdle.

You might burn the bottom of the egg if you place the egg directly on the stovetop. This could ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, heat the egg for 10 seconds in the microwave before placing it in the pan. The microwave heat cooks your egg just right, without it becoming too soft.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. Mixing eggs together is important. You need to beat them well. You can do this by turning the bowl of your mixer upside down. Next, shake the bowl vigorously. This allows the air to be whipped and the egg to be mixed thoroughly.

Now comes the fun part: adding the milk to your mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. You don't need to worry if streaks remain. They will disappear once you flip your omelet.

After you have done folding the eggs, heat the pan on medium heat. The oil will start to smoke. Add 1/4 cup butter to the oil and swirl it around to coat all sides of the pan. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once the omelet is formed and allow it to cool completely. Flip the omelet over using a spatula or flip the pan upside down. Cook the second side for a minute or so. Take the omelet out of the pan and immediately serve.

This recipe works best with whole milk, but skimmed milk also works.
